Game Drives in Uganda and What to Expect on your safaris

There are 10 National parks in Uganda out of these we have 5 savannah national parks where game drives in Uganda are conducted. Queen Elizabeth National Park, Murchison Falls National Park, Lake Mburo National Park, Semliki National Park and Kidepo Valley National Park

This is where game drives in Uganda are carried out because of the variety of wild animals, birds, scenic flora and the mountain peaks. Game drives are the climax of a Uganda Safari in savannah parks of Uganda.

Some of the animals to look out for during a game drive include; Lions, elephants, leopards, cheetahs, buffaloes, antelopes, primates, hyenas, birds, giraffes, rhinos, zebras, African wildcats, hippoes.

Game drives are done during the day (morning and afternoon) and at night each time has an advantage over the other. Day time gives you a chance to glance at the animals feeding, sun bathing, basking and taking care of their young one. At night you get a chance to see the nocturnal and predators hunting for their prey.

4X4 wheel vehicles are used during the game drives in uganda  for easy movement because of the hard terrain within the savannah parks. The different savannah parks have demarked trucks where specific animals can easily be found for a better experience.

The tourists are escorted by a tour guide during the drive whose role is to guide, interpret and teach the tourists as they enjoy the wild. Above all, offer a very exciting African tour experience.

Game drives in Uganda  last approximately 2-4 hours drive depending on the size of the park and the abundance of wildlife. The tourists are advised to carry parked meals so as not to get hungry during the drive.

There are rules and regulations during the game drive;

  • Tourists are restricted from getting out of the vehicle
  • Strictly no coming up close to the animals since it can result into injuries or death the animals can attack people
  • No littering in the park because it is a conservation area, the animals can easily eat the litter and die
  • No whistling or hooting it can alert the animals and they attack the car
  • No flash light cameras especially during the night game drives
  • No feeding the animals or throwing stones or any other harmful material to the animals

Game drives cost depends on the national park you intend to visit because different parks have quite different natural features to offer. The drives can be organized for individuals or groups depending on the client’s needs.

Safari Game drives in Uganda are one of the greatest Uganda Tour experiences anyone could ever engage in, it leaves you overwhelmed seeing those creatures in their natural habitat as they go about their day-to-day life.
